A quiet, minimal attic interior paired with an expressive, well ordered exterior.
A multi phase residential renovation that keeps the main floors close to the home’s original character while transforming the attic into a personal studio like retreat. The project approaches design as an end to end product, treating construction, detailing, and lived experience as one continuous line of inquiry consistent with Living Labs’ research driven practice.
Inside, the attic is minimal and white, with a lean truss form that drops to the floor and reads almost figurative. Outside, the addition is expressive yet ordered, balancing bold surfaces with symmetry and hierarchy. Everyday rituals are framed with simplicity—quiet rooms for work and rest, a clear path for movement, and warm light across pale finishes. The result is a compact top floor that pairs restraint within with a confident public face, turning a familiar house into a small laboratory for living.
